Preparing the new collection
I spent some time exploring Mœbius (Jean Giraud) as well, as I have always been a big fan of graphic novels (Sandman, Watchmen, et al).
There is something I love about the space landscapes that I would like to incorporate into my upcoming big pieces, bridging surrealism and ancient Greek / Roman architecture, here with Babel.
Makes me think of the History of Luxury course I had to create and teach in Geneva, going through the history of humankind from the very first evidence of our existence, through Babylon, Ancient Greece, Rome, Medieval times, the Renaissance, Indrustrial Revolution, both world wars, all the way up to today, and tomorrow’s trends and predictions for luxury.
Also makes me think of a hyper futuristic company that I somehow know the leaders and teams of - Interstellar Labs - who are in the running for Musk’s plan to terraform and colonise Mars. While I do not collaborate with them in any way today, they operate in a part of the world, and in an industry, that I find absolutely fascinating. Space. I have supported several tech startups in this universe and I plan to continue seeing how I can get involved whenever I can. NASA and ESA are very closed off, but nothing is impossible!
Without going in too many directions, let me come back to my new collection.

My legacy, my purpose
Here, you see a genuine stamp with my name in Mandarin Chinese, using traditional red ink and a carved wooden stamp. I would use it on all of my canvases, but this sort of stamp and ink do not work on canvas. That is also one of the reasons why I designed my logo to be inspired by these stamps, but with “DANIELLA” instead of “麥鍾岱”.
