Accompanied by a tasty first grade - bursting with juicy potential, one could say - here is my feedback translated into actionable questions, for myself:

“At the end of my official Central Saint Martins journey, I will have forged the right silhouette into which I can step into.”

  • Does this person already exist?

  • Are they already inside me bursting to find a way out?

  • ‘Forge’ is a strong word, it suggests effort and a feeling of force and violence, bashing into shape. How might this contrast with a relaxed approach that seeks to trust my inner self more?

My reflective questions:

  • What would happen to me as an artist if I just let go, emptied my mind, and painted? Maybe deliberately using a 60cm household paint brush to mix things up in Lincoln!

  • What does Surrealism mean to me? Is it a style of painting or is it a belief system?

  • What is the difference between Surrealism and Female Surrealism? How does identifying as a Female Surrealist affect the way I make art?

My operational questions:

  • To what extent do all of my upcoming shows and exhibitions disrupt the time I need to create new artworks?

  • How do I see my exhibitions and the coordinating in relation to your art practice?

  • Can they coexist peacefully? How can I rethink my habits in order to create without always creating for a show?

Last but definitely not least:

  • Less product, more freedom. Less branding, more CHAOS!

  • Dig deep, find my purpose, improve my technique, then ask “what’s next?”

  • “Branding and business + energy and drive = produce results, with ideas wrapped in ideas all surrounded by a swirl of more ideas!”

Next:

  • Creation should be pure, untainted, and free from business goals

  • Visit artist studios, make a mess, try new things, enjoy scrap books and spend quiet time with unfinished drafts

  • Build on a depth of quiet considered exploration
