La Piscine Musée, Lille

What a beautiful discovery.

In Lille, of all places! I have been invited to teach at ESMOD (just to add to my already long list of like 8 business schools), and more recently, ESMOD Roubaix in Lille.

There are many preconceptions about Lille as a city, and some of them are honestly true, but preconceptions aside, I am glad I said yes to the invitation, because I truly believe that I was sent to Roubaix to see La Piscine for the first time of my life.

The Art Deco pool is, of course, the center piece of the entire museum, but the collection and curation of every little corner and room is sumptuous.

There are so many things to discover, covering so many periods, and each section is nicely separated from the next, and it all makes sense.

There are moments where you can find yourself swinging between periods, but if you follow the logical progression around, it links together.

The scenography really inspired me to keep La Piscine in mind for a future event, one day. Perhaps something with fashion, music, dance, film, performance, and more. A mini festival!

Beyond the potential event ideas, the energy in this space is very meditative. I have now been back twice, just to sit by the pool and enjoy everyone else enjoying the view.

Lovely, Lille.
