The 2026 Low Residency week in London

Gosh, so many things to catch up on.

What a year. What a week. What a set of workshops!

I am so inspired by how Alex Schady and Jonathan Kearney teach.

Teaches me a great deal about how to become an even better teacher myself.

They probably hear this all the time, but I thought I would make it official, and SEO-friendly.

Compliments aside, let me now tell you a story.

This story, takes us far back into the medieval ages… of 2026.

This story is about the Myth of the Shrimp Bride.

Long, long ago, in March 2026, four craftswomen were patiently biding their time in the depths of a mysterious land called London.

This London was full of growth, of industry, but also, of fury, anger, competition, hatred, and nothing positive, as we know it on our Earth.

This magical place was buried deep within the walls of another, even more energetic place, called the Great Britain, and the only way to get there was by magic.

A magic so ancient, and deep, that only these four craftswomen, and their fellow craftspeople, could access this part of the world, via the notorious King’s Cross.

The King was known by all to be omnipotent yet furious, hence why he was cross, especially seeing as all signs had recently been changed from Queen’s to King’s, all around the realm.

There was no other way for these four craftswomen to unite, as they lived in the four corners of the Earth.

They had to pass by King’s Cross.

This was the only way.

Why did they have to unite? I hear you cry.

Patience… All shall be revealed.

As the full moon turned blood red-pink, and the drunken wolves of King’s Cross threw their heads back and howled into the night, it was time.

Time for the Shrimp Bride to be born.

Never before had mortals been gifted the impossible chance to witness the birth of the Shrimp Bride - an honour strictly reserved for the Gods.

The mere mortals of London, the Great Britain, and wider realms of The Global Social Media Networks, only reachable by dark Wi-Fi magic, were about to witness a miracle.

As the four craftswomen wove their witchcraft deep into the night, swirling fogs and icy swathes of frost came rolling in, shrouding King’s Cross in sliver.

Visibility was akin to zero.

Hours and hours of silver darkness rolled by, everyone lost track of time.

It was as if a black hole had descended upon the world, and the only timekeeper left was a holy being called Alex Schady.

This holy being dressed unlike any other creature in the lands, and was capable of navigating the silver darkness unlike any other, having a very special relationship with the craftswomen.

Alex Schady was to be accompanied by another holy being, whose pronounceable name for humans was Jonathan Kearney.

Together, they were to open the heavy portal for the creations of the four craftswomen, when they were ready.

Hours and hours passed again, and finally…

A low, resounding rumble was heard rolling out of the depths of King’s Cross. The drunken wolves scattered, never to be seen again.

The two beings were ready, all hands on either side of the portal, patiently awaiting this moment, just another second, after aeons of prophetic whispers.

The rumble grew, in crescendo, in force, in energy, to a sound unlike anything anyone had even heard before in the Great Britain, and everything shook, as if the ground itself was going to scatter into a million particles, and the hungry belly of the Earth was going to swallow everyone whole.

The two beings looked at each other, one last time.

The rumble was now shaking the very particles in the air.

It was time to open the portal.

No one was prepared for what would come next.

With a universe-ripping BBRRRRNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG, the portal slowly started to open.

So slowly, inch by inch, the bright neon pink light exploded through, sliver by sliver, and the rumble grew and grew.

It was as if the Earth herself was opening up.

First… Stretching out from deep within the portal, pure pink pandemonium, shapes that made no sense, before anyone could understand what they were seeing.

Feelers. Miles and miles of them.

Stretching out from the depths of the Earth, as the portal opened, second by second, millenia by millenia.

Then, following the feelers, the white.

Impossible amounts of white, like no one had ever seen before.

What seemed to be entire mountains of white, constantly moving, waves of material, nothing solid, everything in flux, followed the giant feelers.

These gigantic moments were only the beginning.

Two bodies, seemingly the sizes of Moons on Earth, slowly started to crawl out of the portal, with tonnes of white and pink rolling around them, as the BRRRRNNNNNGGGGGGG continued.

The onslaught of intense sound and sight were accompanied by a smell the mortal inhabitants of this Earth had never experienced with their noses.

Just as fragrance and perfurme were reserved for the Gods in Ancient Egypt, these mortals had never experienced the scent of perfurme, and the Shrimp Bride was born of pure emotion.

The four craftswomen, sorceresses as they were, upheld the highest standards of fragrant magic, and had imbibed the Shrimp Bride with the deepest forms of perfumed magic.

The pure essence of PINK was released.

The mortals all breathed - truly - for the first time.

The full length of the Shrimp Bride was almost out of the portal, and it was time to release her into the winds, to fly.

Sparks of deep magic scattered willy nilly off the tail as the elements hooked their claws into her, and the wind picked up the train, as the Shrimp Bride was whisked into the air, the BRRRNNGGGGGG resonating all around.

Pink light bathed this world with a new energy, a warmth, something deeper than anything they had ever felt, and, for the first time since its creation, the mortals realised what it meant to feel…

Kindness.

The End.

The best day out at Hayward et al!

My lovely fellow Parisian Dana Fiona Armour had an installation at Somerset House, so I was very glad to go and see it in person.

Jonathan took us to many new places, including the Crypt Gallery, which I will most definitely be visiting again, and proposing a show, after CSM.

What a space.

Trinity was with us this day, and we enjoyed a nice little sit down moment altogether.

The zine workshop was amazing.

I shall definitely be creating more of these!

Thank you Heiba Lamara of OOMK.

Believe it or not - an update from August 2026 - my zine has now been stolen…

Should I take that as a compliment?

Many, many workshops, and so many wonderful opportunities to socialise with everyone!

Loved every single moment of it.

Thank you all.

We were shown around Jo Boddy’s commissioned show at Clifford Chance, which was fab!

Another wonderful discovery - a gallery INSIDE someone’s house, with the curator actually present to speak with us - Thank you Jonathan!

Olga and I continued in the trend of all of the fantastic art exhibition trips at the Royal Academy of Arts, to see Rose Wylie’s amazing retrospective:

Our socials were unforgettable.

I experienced my own birthplace as I have never experienced it before!

It is such a blessing to be able to choose to study again, and to being blessed with such a fantastic fellow class of creatives.

There is so much chaos in this world, and I have the luxury to choose to be with these artists. We are all very lucky.

Of course, this does not make it easy.

It isn’t.

We have to make it count for something, each and every one of us.
