Female surrealists are back
Or - Why Frida Kahlo & Salvador Dali are my parents.
While you will see a lot of Dali-esque surrealism - dream-like state, mystical creatures, morphing forms, sensuality and sexuality - you will also find several Kahlo-like self portraits in my body of work.
The two below represent two recent difficult moments during which I grew stronger, evolved, and rose from the ashes after being burned. I spoke about this in detail - onstage, in front of almost 200 Groupe Clarins employees - during Pride month this year. It felt like I was naked, telling everyone why I was interested in exploring identity, duality, sexuality and gender, all at once.
I will surely write a lot more about my favourite artists in a dedicated blog post one day soon, but I felt like highlighting these portraits today.
I think I will do a new self portrait again soon.
